New Garden at Smith Elementary!
Built with help from Slow Food, Europa Landscaping and Noodles and Co.
Saturday was a beautiful day. We had 15 volunteers show up at 9:00 am. We divided tasks into a cutting crew, a building crew, a weed barrier crew and a wheelbarrow crew. Everyone did a great job at their tasks, some even learning some new skills. We broke at noon for a fabulous lunch from Noodles & Co. We then worked until 3 pm, finishing 4 raised beds, 2 flat beds, moved all the garden soil, moved half of the wood chips, and a great job of cleaning up.
The Smith community will come to school Monday morning to a brand new addition to their school yard. DPS is going to finish the fence installation on Monday. Slow Food Denver will finish the compost system next weekend.
